Teamsters rockin' the vote all over the USA

Tonight in Toledo.
Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa leads a huge rally for pro-worker candidates in Toledo, Ohio, tonight as Teamsters all over the country campaign against the extremism that's destroying America's middle class.

Hoffa is barnstorming through Ohio to urge Teamsters to vote for President Obama and Sen. Sherrod Brown, one of our staunchest allies on trade. Hoffa is also making the case for Issue 2, which would empower citizens to draw legislative districts.

Airport.
His trip to Ohio follows a weekend full of rallies and meet-and-greets in California. There, Teamsters are fighting tirelessly to defeat Prop 32, the billionaires' bill of rights. It's a ballot question that would take away workers' rights to political speech. Already California Teamsters have registered 25,000 new voters to make sure it doesn't pass.

All over the country, Teamsters are moving to the electoral front in the War on Workers. They're knocking on doors, phone banking, staging rallies, handbilling at worksites and registering voters. Some joint councils even painted their trucks with election messages.

In North Carolina, you'll find a Teamster at the wheel of the Obama for America campaign bus. Teamsters in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia are handbilling for President Obama in Northern Virginia, a key battleground state.

Tonight, Kentucky Teamsters are staging a welcoming party for Vice President Joe Biden in Danville, where he'll debate Paul Ryan. Teamster Bernie Ballard will be live blogging from the debate.

Local 25 in Boston has gone all out for Obama and Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren, long a fighter for the middle class against predatory financial institutions.

New Hampshire Teamsters have a tough battle trying to win the state for Obama and gubernatorial candidate Maggie Hassan. Hassan's opponent, Ovide Lamontaigne promised he'd be Scott Walker on steroids if he wins.

Michigan Teamsters are also busting their butts for the Protect Working Families amendment, which would amend the state constitution to protect collective bargaining rights. Detroit Teamsters will host a rally for the amendment at their Health and Welfare Building in Detroit. And President Hoffa will be there.

His message in Michigan will be very similar to his message tonight:
We have a clear choice to make in November – we must elect candidates that will fight for the issues that are important to the working, middle-class families in Ohio and across the country.
