Woo-hoo! Another Teamster victory!

A warm welcome to our 42 new brothers and sisters who work for O'Reilly Auto Parts in Forest Park, Ga. They're CDL drivers who voted 27-11 to join Local 728 in Atlanta. (We're sorry we don't have our victory picture but we're having problems with the Internets.)

The O'Reilly drivers stood together against an aggressive union-busting campaign by the company's law firm. They wanted Teamster representation so they could negotiate fair annual raises, a safer workplace and job security.

Route driver Kevin Culberson is savoring the victory. He said

On March 8 we stood together as drivers and are thrilled to now be able to call ourselves Teamsters.
Ben Speight, Local 728's organizing director, said O'Reilly is a major player in the auto parts industry. Speight said O'Reilly's workers
...deserve better from this company, which last year had $4.8 billion in sales.
Speight said the drivers' co-workers in the warehouse showed solidarity by actively encouraging them to vote for the union during the organizing campaign.

Tony Perry, an O'Reilly route driver, said a Teamster contract will be the best thing for drivers and their families.  He said
Being respected by O’Reilly and having a safe work environment is important to all of us.
