The rallies are still going strong every day and attracting all kinds of people -- moms, elders, doctors, you name it. This Saturday a monster protest is planned, and farmers will form a tractorcade to the capitol. Here's the announcement from Family Farm Defenders:
Next week, farmers from across the dairyland will bring tractors and solidarity to the WI capitol to fight for labor rights and a just state budget. Rural communities will be disproportionately hurt by the cuts to education and BadgerCare, and farmers in Wisconsin stand with state workers, and all working and middle class families in the state. The event is sponsored by Family Farm Defenders, Wisconsin Farmers Union and Land Stewardship project. All farmers and eaters welcome and encouraged to come!Brother Rob Moss, business agent with Local 695, makes the trip to Madison every weekend. And, he says,
I'll be there every weekend till it's over, about a 3 hour round trip from my house. This weekend the farmers are bringing up their tractors so that will be cool as I am a country boy myself. To prove that to ya, I'm sending a picture of me with an Amish team I was using pulling logs out for firewood for a Teamster widow. Two of my Union sons (Joe electrician & Bob iron worker and foreman) will be coming with me to protest as well. We have to win this thing, it means so much not only to Wisconsin but the rest of the Country as well...
I know that this family will not give up the fight, I'm a third generation Teamster and had to move three times to stay in the Teamsters in order to maintain work...We'll be there with you in spirit this weekend!
