Woo-hoo! Philly passes paid sick days for workers (video)

The Philadelphia City Council has passed a bill, 15-2, to provide workers with sick days. The bill requires the city and employers with city contracts, funding or leases to provide up to seven earned paid sick days per year.

Councilman Wilson Goode Jr. introduced the bill and had this to say:
America needs jobs. Good jobs. Family-sustaining jobs. Jobs with good wages and benefits. That’s the American Dream. The message is about economic justice, which means that a person who works 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year, should be able to live with dignity, fair wages and benefits, especially if the job is supported by taxpayer dollars.
Go Philly!
