We doubt Scott learned valuable lessons from his job as CEO of a company that paid the highest criminal fine in history for Medicare fraud. As for living the American Dream, the average doughnut shop worker would never be able to afford Scott’s roof, let alone his house.I was always proud of the jobs I had and learned valuable lessons from each one. My goal as Governor is to be sure every Floridian has the same opportunity to get a job and live the American Dream.
The Governor Gone Wild recently signed what he called “Florida’s first jobs budget,” a budget that actually eliminates jobs. Florida has the fourth-highest unemployment rate in the nation and the second-highest rate of people without health insurance. Scott is also now requiring state workers under the Florida Retirement System to contribute 3 percent of their salaries to their retirement.
Scott is taking suggestions on what types of jobs he should do. You can e-mail him your ideas at Rick.Scott@eog.myflorida.com OR go heckle him at work.
The Orlando Sentinel’s Mike Thomas has a suggestion:
I’d like to see one of these politicians really get into the role by giving up their health insurance, driving to the store in a 1993 Corolla and deciding whether to use their paycheck to pay the rent or the electric bill. The obvious PR move to curry favor with “regular people” is no doubt a product of Scott’s 27 percent approval rating, the lowest for any governor in the nation.
Here’s hoping he does a better job glazing the doughnuts.
