Woo-hoo! Another Teamster victory in Canada!

A warm welcome to 30 new Teamster brothers and sisters who voted to join Local 879 in Hamilton, Ontario. They are drivers for All Parts Delivery, a parts-delivery company based in London, Ontario.

The company fought the organizing effort, going so far as to say the drivers are self-employed. They didn't get away with it, and the Ontario Labour Relations Board upheld their vote on June 13.

Teamsters organizer Jim Killey said the company will now have to treat the workers with the respect they deserve. He said,

I take my hat off to All Parts Delivery’s workers, who weren’t afraid to stand for their rights and join our union.
The Teamsters Union represents 125,000 members in Canada in all trades.
