New Jersey is thisclose to making sure employers don't cheat port and parcel delivery drivers by misclassifying them. All it takes is for Gov. Chris Christie to sign the legislation sitting on his desk.
The Legislature passed a strong, Teamster-supported misclassification bill last month. The bill would make sure that bad actors like FedEx Ground don't get out of paying unemployment benefits and workers compensation while still controlling their workers. When companies like these cheat, they put law-abiding companies at a competitive disadvantage. And they bring down standards for all workers.
Almost 200 Teamsters have sent e-mails asking Christie to sign the bill. But we have to keep up the pressure! If you haven't done it already (or even if you have), please send an e-mail asking the governor to sign this critical legislation. Just click here and follow the instructions.
Join the scores of other Teamsters and union friends who are urging Christie to sign the misclassification bill currently on his desk. The governor has until mid-July to act on the legislation. Let's make sure workers are getting the pay and benefits they deserve and taxpayers aren't being ripped off. Click here and ask him to sign the bill.
