Labor supporters speak!

We need unions now more than ever. Why? Higher pay, better benefits, safer working conditions, and employee protections, just to name a few. We also need unions to fight corporate America as it attempts to step on workers and hijack the political process. And it looks like you agree! Here’s what some of the fine union members and labor supporters who shared their thoughts on our Teamsters Facebook page had to say about what unions mean to them. (Some comments have been edited for clarity and brevity.)

Jane E. Weisner
A Union paycheck paid for everything in my life. When I became management and a strike was being threatened I argued with the rest of management that negotiations are not personal just business. The strike was averted and I didn't lose my job because I WOULD NOT CROSS A PICKET LINE.
Rob Siciliano
I can't help but feel like unions are an extension of democracy, allowing workers to have a say in the happenings of the work place.
Slappy Foresinzki
Whatever it is you do should become unionized. You'd be paid better. Shown more respect by your employer. Possibly even start appreciating what a union truly is? They aren't the problem. The demands by employers are.
Mark Richmond
The labor movement protects its members, unlike those that profit from it.
Matt Reuter
If it wasn't for unions we wouldn't enjoy the benefits we do today. Eight-hour day, paid vacations and sick days, etc.
Sharon K. Murphy Bayens
If you want it done right the first time, hire UNION workers to build it!
Jim McGrath
Every single working person in this country should be organized.
Mark James Hankins
Thank you Teamsters for leading from the front.
Jimmy Gandee
Unions do not make companies go out of business. Bad decisions by management do.
Marcia Winkler
If you don't want to belong to a union then you shouldn't get all the benefits a union provides...end of story!
Sigrid Benz
Teamsters are the BOSS! May they stand Strong and Proud …
Amen, friends. Amen!
