Woo-hoo! Another Teamsters organizing victory in NH

Please welcome our 331 new brothers and sisters who are officers and other employees for the New Hampshire Department of Corrections. They voted 3-to-1 to switch from the New England Police Benevolent Association to Teamsters Local 633 in Manchseter.

The Manchester Union Leader reports,
A news release from the Teamsters said employees “cited a long history of failed promises and lackluster representation” in taking the vote...
Teamsters officials said the switch was initiated by employees and that the election was conducted under the direction of the Public Labor Relations Board, which is expected to certify the results in the near future.
The newspaper reported Dave Laughton, secretary-treasurer of Local 633, said,
The very important work that these people do every day can easily be taken for granted, but more than 4,000 of their brothers and sisters throughout New Hampshire will make sure they get the respect they deserve...
By the time the PELRB has certified us as the exclusive bargaining representative of these hard-working men and women, we will have already hit the ground running. We are in the process of setting up contract proposal meetings, putting in place the process for shop steward elections and planning for the training of the elected stewards.
Welcome to our great union!
