Woo-hoo! Another Teamster organizing victory in IN!

Please give a warm welcome to our new brothers and sisters from the nursing staff of Wittenberg Village in Crown Point, Ind. They voted by a large margin to join Teamsters Local 142 in Gary.

According to the NWI Times,

Jason Pedroza, of the Gary-based Teamsters local, said the National Labor Relations Board has certified results last month of a January election. Teamsters member Antoine Brown said the vote was 74-41 in favor of Teamster representation.

Pedroza said the union soon will be ready to negotiate a new contract with management of the Crown Point rehabilitation and assisted living center for seniors. Arlington Heights, Ill.-based Lutheran Life Communities owns Wittenberg Village.

And now on to that all-important first contract!
