Stop Mexican trucks: Day One

UPDATE: Ooops! Day One isn't today, it will probably be today or tomorrow. That doesn't mean you shouldn't get ready to tell the U.S. government why it's a horrible idea to open the border to dangerous Mexican trucks.

We told you yesterday how to do it. Here's another letter you can write today:

FMCSA-2011-0097
April 12, 2011
Dear Sir or Madam:

Are you trying to get us all killed? Mexico is a war zone. Today we learned that eight more people were killed in Ciudad Juarez within a half hour. That's right across the border from Texas.

There isn't a single place in Mexico that isn't infiltrated by organized crime. That crime is spreading north as 80 border officials have been arrested for corruption along the border and hundreds are under investigation. How can  you possibly claim that border agents responsible for checking Mexican trucks won't be susceptible to bribes?  How can you possibly reassure the American public that no one will be killed when you open the border to Mexican trucks?

Vicious drug cartels are already crossing the border to buy weapons, sell drugs and smuggle human beings. Opening the border to Mexican trucks will only make this problem worse.

Sincerely,
